I had a friend contact me about the Bobby Rush version of HR 45. I did a search and found some information on Blirs version, but didn't find much about the Rush version. Can anyone tell me if this went anywhere? Also, how can I best explain it to my friend who's having palpitations about the news?

It's one and the same. Nothing at all. No co-sponsors. Going nowhere.

It's called the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 and Bobby Rush is the sole sponsor.

Thanks, Dean. That's what I thought, but my friend is pretty adamant that it's happening and about to pass. I passed this info on to him.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Have him go here and sign up for the bill tracker. It will e-mail him the instant there is a change in the status of the bill. There has been zero updates since it went to committee last winter: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-45

A bill with no co-sponsors has zero chance of getting out of committee.
