Hello! I'm really glad I found this forum! I've been lurking for a while, but thought that I should just go ahead and join.

A little bit about me. As recent as a year ago, I was one of THEM. I didn't own any guns and had no desire to do so and I didn't really see any reason that anyone else should, either. That started to change when a buddy of mine (and hardcore carry advocate) got posession of quite a few guns (another story for another time). I was over at his house and we talked quite a bit about guns and shooting. I got interested and eventually I purchased a Ruger MIII 22/45 from him and he and I started shooting in a rimfire league. What a blast! I wanted to shoot up north, but I saw a potential problem. I usually ride my ATV around up north to shoot (at the farm and other peoples farms) but it looked to me like I could not legaly carry my .22 on the ATV. To make a long story short (I know...too late), I ended up getting my P2C to make sure that I was legal. Since then, I've purchase a SA XD(m) .40 and LOVE shooting it. Next up: finding something to carry (at the top of the list is the Walther PPS 9mm, in case you were wondering).

It was through my buddy and all the great people on forums like this that let me to a total change in attitude about personal protection and carry.

Boy, talk about a complete 180 degree turn within a year!

Get your PPS yet? When you do, we're gonna need a range report!

Kudos to you and especially your buddy for helping you 'see the light'. 8)

Not quite yet. Apparently my furnace and A/C in the house decided it was time to get replaced :bang: That's seriously eating into my "gun fun".

The conversation with the furnace guy went something like this:
Furnace guy: Well, your drip pan is rusted right through.
Me: Oh. Okay. So I just need a new drip pan, then.
FG: Well, the problem is that the drop pan is an integral part of the A-coil.
Me: You're telling me I need an entirely new A-coil?
FG: Well, the problem is that this is an older A-coil and I can't match a new one to the current compressor.
Me: You're telling me I need a new coil AND compressor?
FG: Well, the problem is that when the drip pan rusted through, it dumped a lot of water into the firebox. There's no way this will heat this winter.
Me: You're telling me I need a complete A/C system AND a new furnace?
FG: Pay up, sucka.

I guess the lesson here is to make sure that the drain line doesn't get clogged and hold water in the drip pan.

I did stop by Cabelas in Rogers to take another look at the PPS and one of the salesmen there said that there was a recall on all PPS's. When I asked why, he told me that when dropped, they were discharging. Now I know that the PPS is a striker-fired gun and that the striker is only half cocked until the trigger is fully pulled, so I'm seriously questioning this guys information. I also keep abreast of things over on the PPSTalk forums and have heard nothing about this issue over there. I'm thinking this guy was full of shit, but what do I know?

You instinct was correct -
He was correct on why there was a recall, even the correct manufacturer just wrong firearm.

There was/is a recall on the PPK and the PPK/S not the PPS.
