Again, its a "game". 95 % of the shooters are out there to just have fun. The 5 % who can win don't need to play "games" to win. The most fierce competion will be between the friends you shoot with. Anyone can be a jerk. The only thing not tolerated is unsafe gun handling. Several shooters choose to shoot the stages in a more "tactical" mannor and place themselves at a disadvantage for score. They want the practice encountering different scenarios to apply proper tactics. Anyone watching can see the differences between proper tactics and shooting for score. Your choice.

Personally, I rarely check my score, usually only at the end of the league. (And I'm the scorekeeper for the BUG matches.)

Come out and watch a few. (Just bring a gun in case you change your mind.)

I carry my 4" Springfield Champion most of the time, in an AKJ Concealco (IWB) holster (nice leather!).

Kimber Pro size (either CDP or Raptor depending on mood) in a Bianchi carry lock OWB.

Seems to work/conceal well for me, It is also the gun I use for IDPA so I am comfortable with it.

ahhhh yeah most of the time,

combat commander series 70 some work done on it about 20 years ago. I think its eaten about 75K rounds.

I only recently purchased my first 1911 style. I was thinking about getting a full size for target shooting but someone with a like new Kimber CDP Ultra 2 Was selling his. I couldn't resist. It came with a very small Heinie (spell check) belt holster that has been extremely comfortable. Holds the gun nice and tight to the body.
I didn't think a gun of this weight would carry this nice. 25 ozs.
OK, this may not seem like much to most people, but I have sub-compact Glocks a S&W 360 & Keltec's P-32 and P3AT.

My 1911's have been mostly safe queens for some time, since I started to carry plastic high-caps.

This thread has got me thinking I should carry my old Colt Combat Commander again. Not as many shots but it doesn't "Print" like those blocky plastic guns either.

I'm not nervous at all about carrying my "cocked and locked" Kimber Pro-Carry. I am though a wee bit nervous that I may forget to take that lock off in a stressfull situation. Too bad, it's my BEST "point" shooter. :cry:

I just don't practice enough on a 1911 platform to make that 2nd nature. It's something to consider if you choose a 1911 style model for carry.

That being said, the Kimber spends most of it's time in the safe now, and I have piece of mind carrying a 642 or a Glock 23 nowadays.

If I only had a few extra bucks laying around I would consider a .45ACP XD Compact for the "best of both worlds".

In time I suppose.

I finally decided on the IMI Baby Eagle .45 (DA/SA) as my primary sidearm.

It weighs a ton (well, 3 pounds fully loaded) but I shoot better with it.

FWIW my Primary is a full size Dan Wesson Patriot Expert Stainless (1911-.45 ACP) but during summer I've been known to carry a Glock 26 or Kahr MK9 on occassion. I really have no problem concealing the Dan Wesson and it is so comfortable in the Versa Max II I sometimes forget I'm even carrying.
