Those of you that carry Semiautos for daily carry, do you carry extra mags or are you content with the one in the gun.

I don't carry any extra mags. However, I have been thinking about picking up a mag holder that runs parallel with my belt for one extra mag.
I would hope I would never need more than the ammo in the gun, but ?????
Ya never know.

With a semi-auto you always carry a spare magazine to clear malfunctions, not necessarily for the extra rounds.

I always carry one spare mag for the XD.

10+1 may be enough for most situations, but 26+1 should be enough for all but a very few situations.

That. and the fact that I like carrying the smaller mag in the gun as it doesn't stick out near as much, therefore making for easier concealment.

Same here, I also carry a spare to help balance out my belt.

Generally, at least one spare in the pants . . . jacket will have one or more. If the jacket has one, the diaper bag has one or more. If no jacket, the diaper bag will have two or more.

Being the father of an infant has given me a great means of discreet off body carry when I need it & a handy way to haul extra ammo otherwise. When she was an newborn, before we bought a purpose specific diaper bag. . . . I actually cleaned out my range bag and we used it as a diaper bag. The dividers that keep my hearing protection separate from my ammo and spare parts worked great for keeping the diapers, wipes and feeding supplies separate. Changing mat fit in one pistol rug pocket and I still had one pistol rug pocket to use as intended (If I were inclined). But that is a lil off topic.

Two spares, it's not much weight, and like the firearm, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Especially since there seems to be a rise in the mob-group style random attacks. I am my own backup; I need to be equipped as such.

Yep, carry an extra magazine in my pocket in one of these -

But then I also usually carry a flashlight, a blade and OC spray.

+1 I cant see a citation when I would need 35 rounds (never know), but if my mag drops, I have a malfunction, or god forbid I need the extra rounds, i'm ready

I have a bit of love handle action, and the vertical mag holders weren't working for me, so i made my own horizontal one a old nylon knife sheath I had.

It fit my G17 mag perfectly, so I sewed on some nylon loops, and have a VERY comfortable very concealed horizontal mag pouch.

Spare mag: yes.
As mentioned, Malfunctions in Semi-autos, when they occur, usually involve the feeding source. a Double feed usually involves stripping a mag out. If you send that one skidding across the parking lot when your sweaty hands slip Or you accidentally press the mag release and find yourself with one in the pipe and an empty magwell, Or you smash the plastic bottom of the mag showering rounds and spring across the ground... It'd be a lot more convenient to have another close to hand to get things running again.

There's this guy I know who took DonL's Holster work class last week. There he is, doing El Presidente drills with a 1911. bang-bang bang-bang bang-bang Mag release, Pickup spare, Mag doesn't frop, Grab mag, Strip it out of the gun, OH CRAP, threw both mags across the room. Oh Hell, back to the mag carrier for another. Bang-Bang Bang-Bang Bang-Bang.

His time was sub optimal but the reloads were smooth (aside from the stupid throw it across the room part) and having 1 more mag than he planned to need kept him running the drill.

That guy would be me. I had a chance to learn a few things. One of them is: 2 spare mags. The other is: GET A GRIP ON THE MAG! :-(

I watched your performance. Nice throw by the way. :P With my XDM another mag won't help. You need to get the first mag to release to put the next one in.
Great class eh!

At least one spare sometimes two. If I think I might need more than 22 rounds I'll stay home.

For me its 1 or 2 mags....Always. 1911A1 Officers=6 in the mag. So I carry extra mags for overall quantity of rounds, tactical re-load, and for the possibility I need to clear mechanical problems with the pistol.
