I just picked up a S&W Sigma SW9VE for $300. It seems like a well balanced gun for the price. I will post a review once I have been to the range!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

I have the 40VE and have put through 2500+ mine with zero problems. It have very good ergonomics with not the best trigger. The trigger gets better with a bunch of dry firing and about 500 rounds. It will make you a much better shot with all your other guns because you have to have good trigger and grip control.

It is my HD and SHTF gun and I used it for my carry class qualification with Joel. :D

I've got a 9VE as well.

It's been rock solid and trouble-free for my 1200ish rounds that I've put through it. I think it's a great gun for the money.

Let us know what you think after you get some trigger time.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, I hope to get some trigger time soon. I researched the gun before purchasing---I just know that the "glock" people really trashed the reviews for it. It definately has a different feel that my Colt.

Don't let the "Glock guys" get you down. I am a Glock guy, but I do not begrudge anyone buying any gun for any reason. Does not mean I will buy what you like, but if it works for you...

If you do not want to get ripped, just do not post about it on Glock Talk. Those guys would eat their own child.

And again, welcome to the forum.

I am very unhappy with Glock so to hell with them. They stopped making appearances at shows - stopped any and all attempts at customer service....

But a sigma? Come on....... I gotta rip on that a little bit..... Buddy had one - parts used to fall out of it.... Funny - it still worked :o

Why is it every time I hear someone talking shiat about them, it's always a gun they had 8 years ago, or "they heard from their buddy who had one..."?

Seriously, they aren't bad guns. Try one - you might be surprised.

Because my buddy had one like 10 years ago that fell apart - I don't think that I will give them a second chance.

I tend to be slightly jaded when it comes to pistols.

Yeah, I read up a lot on how the early model Sigma's had issues. From all the recent accounts, the problems were fixed.

The Sigma definately has to prove it is worthy enough to protect me and my family, but I am willing to give it a chance.......Until then, I will continue to carry my Colt.

That's the same model 9MM is fired at the range last Friday. I liked it. It was accurate and didn't seem problematic to me. The owner didn't seem to be concerned with any problems, either, Unlike SOMEBODY'S Dan Wesson 1911 clone.

I just picked one up at Joe's , 9mm for $319. OD green lower and silver upper. I like it better than my XD, it is slightly slimmer and lighter, also better balanced- XD seems to be top-heavy.

After I got it, I fired about 200 rounds through it. No failures to report. It did take a little time to get used to the trigger since it has such a long pull.

I took the time to use some steel wool and polish some of the trigger components on it, and dry-fired it a lot----it seem to improve the trigger pull a little.

If you do a search online for "smith and wesson sigma trigger fix" there are some good "how to" articles on fixing the trigger to your liking. Some of it involves changing the springs...so on and polishing components.....

Overall, I think it was a good purchase. 8)

My friend/ co-worker has indicated that he might sell his Sigma. Upon discussing it with another friend, it appears that S&W got sued because the Sigma kind of infringed on the Glock's patent. I can't say if this is fact, but the source is credible. I liked the Sigma and would probably buy the one my co-worker has should he decide to sell it. (As long as I can get a good price !!)
