Purchased a S&W 642. It has the rubber grips. Took it to the range and afer 50 rounds of .38's and 10 rounds of .38 +p's I ended up with a nice blister on the inside of my thumb near the base.

I know the 642 is a light gun and kicks more than my SP-101, but I'm wondering if the real culprit is the rubber grips.

So, how many of you 642 owners found you had to change out the grips? If so, did you go with wood or a different rubber grip?

Have you considered using shooting gloves?

My wife has that gun and when she first got it she was shooting HYDRA-SHOK's in it, and had the same problem. I loaded up some lite-loads for her to practice with.... That work's good...BUT she always ends up shooting 5-10 H-S's at the end of every practice. Now she likes the gun :D
