For what it's worth I have a 3.5" Springfield V10 portedI think it's a great firearm and it never gave me any trouble. I much prefer DA/SA pistols however so I'm selling it off.
The one or two ounce advantage the Kimber has is no big deal, but I do enjoy teasing my buddy about how heavy his Scandium Smith & Wesson is. I like aggressive checkering and ambi safeties too, but not on my carry gun. Others do.

Both Nighthawk and Ed Brown offer a "bobtail" version of their commander size pistols. This makes the pistol easier to conceal and also (for me, anyway) seems to fit more naturally in the hand. I have shot the same Ed Brown Pinnacle mentioned, and it is indeed a finely crafted pistol.
