Go to the gun store of your choice and place the 26 over the 19. The difference is actually very small. I went with the 19.

I'll second Paul's comment on Rocket Man holsters. I have the extreme cant and the IWB for the 19 and they are both incredible holsters.

To be honest I'll probably end up with a 26 as well. It's like eating potato chips or something...

I have the same size Glock 27 and I just love the thing so much. It has never failed at the range in any way, and the stubby 4.2-inch height makes it incredibly concealable. Columbia makes lots of different cargo shorts, but one sturdy type has front pockets that go the whole way down the front, behind the cargo pockets, so that anything in them gets completely concealed. I got them for $25 at Kohl's and the Glock 27 disappears in them. (The pockets will even hold a Springfield XD-45 Compact without showing any of it, so I bet your Glock 17 would work too.)

As I'm sure you know, the Glock 26 is significantly bigger than a Kahr PM, but the PM40 I had was shockingly unreliable, even after the 200-round break-in period and trying four different types of factory ammo (and meticulously cleaning and oiling it). It had about a 70% failure rate--FTFs and failure to go into battery. Out of the box the flimsy polymer frame rails looked like they were hand-carved in a hurry by someone with a utility knife. Yet the two people I've talked to who own PM9s said they were 100% reliable from the start. Maybe the .40 is just pushing their design too far. Thankfully Cabela's refunded my money in full with no hesitation, which impressed me a whole lot.

My Springfield XD SC 9 was carried for 6 mos, now does bedroom duty. G26 is the choice for daily carry. The Springfield has a rail mount for a small tac/laser light. I am small framed and carry IWB, the Glock has slightly smoother corners. I like the Glock sights a little better. With the pierce grip extension I can carry 12+1 and still be as small or smaller than the Springfield. Both are great and have shot 3000-4000 rounds flawlessly. My .02

I believe that I will be bringing home a 26 as soon as my permit...hopefully, arrives. The best bit of info that I have received is that why stop there...there are plenty of great carry choices and as long as your comfortable and competent with shooting them, why not get a couple more

That's a great deal on the Smith, even without the night sights. S&W is also adding two free mags from the factory, if you buy after 6/1. I bought my M&P Compact in 40 last Saturday, great timing.

I traded my G26 for a G23 when I picked up the Kahr P9, the PM being too small for my large hands. Don't buy the Glock until you hold onto the Smith, they are very nice. I'm having the M&P's trigger smoothed and worked locally by a Smith expert, PM if you want contact info,

I tried one of his guns at the last IDPA match, smooth and a 4lb break, but I'll keep mine above 5lbs and just loose the slack and get a faster reset for carry purposes.

Also for those of us with the M&P 40c if you call S&W they are giving out the finger extensions for the other mag for free Just ask customer service about getting a mag extension and they are sending them out free Now that is good customer service. The few times i have had to call them they have been the best even if i screwed the part up

I shot a friends G-26. Very much enjoyed it. I could not seem to miss steel plates at about 15' to 20', even in fast strings.

That said I would not give up my SA Ultra Compact (.45ACP / 1911A1 thing).

There are many fine handguns on the market today...for me I couldn't stop at just one.
I've owned a Kahr PM9, Kahr MK9, and Glock 26 in this category. I still own the MK9 and G26. I had reliability problems with the PM9 and after no success in resolving them lost complete confidence in the gun-I no longer have the PM9-others have also experienced these issues, but if you get a good one they are light and small. I like the MK9 (same as PM9 but all stainless) and love the G26. The MK9 has been 100% reliable since day one. It is very versatile because of its' size (IWB, OWB, ankle, front pocket, rear pocket-it does it all in comfort). It is accurate and has fed everything I have loaded into it. Is it as good as a G26? Overall, in my humble opinion, I prefer the G26. The only negative for the G26, to me, is the thickness of the gun. Holster selection is more critical for the G26 than with the MK9. (My favorite and most comfortable IWB holster for the G26 believe it or not is the Bag Master nylon which does offer one handed reholstering.) But where the G26 shines is in the utilitarian hammer-like reliability, functionality, simplicity and accuracy. It is impervious to corrosion, and has great capacity (10+1 vs 6+1 for the MK9). Your spare magazine can be a 17 rounder from the G17 if you so wish (there's even a 33 rd magazine available if you dare). It is simple to strip and clean and you can do it in 15 minutes. I'm more accurate with the G26 than the MK9 and it's more enjoyable to shoot. From a confidence viewpoint I prefer the G26. If mode of dress permits I will always choose the G26 over the MK9. My three main carry firearms are the MK9, G26 and a full size 1911 .45ACP. With those 3 I find I can carry at all times no matter what I wear...to the point of even carrying more than one sometimes... This is by no means a complete review of the subject at hand just some off-the-cuff thoughts. Good luck with your choice, you may want to shoot several different firearms to arrive at a decision-as others more knowledgeable than me have suggested. My $.02 on the issue...

My first post on this forum and I've already gone and bought the 26! Sounds like I probably did ok.

I have decided not to go with the mag extensions because I had a small cell phone pouch that fits (and covers) the 10 round mag perfectly and it seems to me to be a great way to carry a spare. It would be too small for the mag with extension or a big mag.

Also, I'll carry the 26 without an extension to keep it as small as possible and want to keep my grip exactly the same and so I don't want to have some mags with extensions and some without. I have a couple of 15 round G19 mags for spares for when I have more room.....like in cooler weather.

G26.......(I call mine the Pope, because it seems to be infallible) shoots real well for me. I had night sights installed today and I have a Galco IWB which seems pretty good. Haven't worn it for any length of time, though.

About Streicher's......nobody mentioned it on this thread, but they also sell new Glocks to active military and retired military and the price I was recently quoted was 398.20......just in case we have military here who didn't know that.

You want to make sure you get the blue box (it comes with 3 mags in the larger Glocks and I think just 2 with the 26s).

I'll be picking one up in a couple of weeks.

Final note.......anybody know if you can carry into Nye's in downtown MPLS?
