since we've been on vacation I've used my time getting used to my new best friend. The straight 8 Heinie sites have taken some getting used to but we're working it out. Although it has only 300 rounds through it I'm very happy with it.

Neat. I haven't handled one, yet, but I've been pretty impressed with the last couple of generations of Taurus semiautos. I really like my Millenium Pro, and if they'd get rid of the safety switch, it would be just about perfect for its niche.

My shooting partner got one recently (.45 ACP). First time at the range it shot well probably 30 to 40 rounds. Next time at the range could not get through a full magazine without FTF problems. Seems that some of the mags have problems. He called Taurus and they had him send the mags back to them. They said they would replace them. Hopping for them to arrive this week and I will advise on if the problems are corrected. I have read elsewhere that the mags have been a problem for some.

My friend is really hoping that the problem goes away as he really likes the gun. (I should have said his is the Millenium Pro.)

There has been some problems related to magazines with the 24/7 Pro .45. I haven't heard of any in the .40 or the 9.

My PT140 has an issue with the slide "sticking". When I pull back the slide, about 25% of the time it doesn't pull back all the way, and it will actually stay in that position (half pulled back). I sent it in to Taurus and the sent it back saying they made some adjustments. It doesn't seem like anything's changed. Someone mentioned using toothpaste. Any suggestions?

Just wanted to update on the .45 mags. Taurus had admitted that they did indeed have problems with the .45 mags. It took them quite a while to get the new replacement mags to my buddy from the factory. They kept telling that the were going to ship "in just a couple of days". Well after about 3 - 4 weeks of this they finally arrived. The new mags seemed to have resolved his problems (about 50 - 60 rounds shot). Need to get more rounds through the gun to be sure.

blackriv, try taking the gun apart and looking at the bottom of the slide, look for burrs, shiny spots showing wear, etc. just something out of the ordinary. What you are talking about sounds like something is not right on the slide rails or slide, often just a gentle stoning or polishing can eliminate that.

Early S&W alloy frames and steel slide autos had a habit of the slide having just a bit of roughness which would rough up the alloy rail. it would take a hundred or so rounds for the problem to get to where a slide would stall before going into battery, The problem was solved with a careful polishing of the stainless part, and a light buffing of the built up alloy, once fixed, just keeping the gun lubed solved the problem.

The other area that can give you trouble is the recoil spring guide rod. If it has a full lenght rod this can sometimes get canted back where it rides on the barrel (rear) and it will lock things up as you have stated as it jams between the barrel and action. Since this cannot be seen due where it is located it can be very difficult to trouble shoot it.

It is is a metal rod you can polish the area at the rear then, in many cases use a magic marker to coat it, reassemble the pistol and cycle it a few time, tear it down and look for wear areas.

Also check the underside of the barrel to see if the recoil spring is rubbing as this can lock things up.

In either situation a couple of hundred rounds thru the weapon to break it in and get things seated will normally solve the problem. During this "break in" period I keep the gun well lubed.
