I have been thinking about one of these ever since they came out. They are spendy but a beautifull gun. I have a chance to pick one up for $900.00 Supposedly less than 10 rounds have been put through this gun.
If anyone has one of these I would like to hear your opinion of this gun. I have heard the early ones had some feeding problems. This one is a low serial number.
How well does it conceal? Too big for a pocket gun I am guessing.

Neat gun. Really shoots nice. It does not like reloads that are not fully resized to the base. I have never had a malfunction with factory ammo. No malfunctions with my reloads but I make sure the cases are fully resized to the base and I use a Lee Factory Crimp die that resizes the case again after the bullet is seated. I then check the reloads in a 9 mm case gage. I have had a couple malfunctions where people gave me their reloads to use. They did not resize their cases properly.

I did not like the way the magazine extended beyond the grip so I made a flush fit magazine from a factory magazine. It holds one less round. Spare magazines are the full size ones.

I think Springfield EMP missed the mark when they made it to fit the 45 GAP (but haven't offered it for sale) and 40 SW. They could have made the slide at least 0.100 thinner if it was only for a 9 mm. I have a Colt Pocket Nine which was made only in 9 mm. The slide on it is 0.100 thinner and it really makes the gun carry nicely. The thickness of the gun is the most noticeable dimension for carry on a handgun.

If I were to design the gun again, it would be 9 mm only so the slide can be thinner. I would still make it SA like the standard 1911 and not DAO as the Colt Pocket Nine. I would keep the Officer's length grip as on the EMP and offer either an 8 round flush fit or 9 round extended magazine. I would offer this gun in the 3 inch barrel as the EMP and also offer it with a 4 inch barrel. Cost is too high.

I purchased my EMP as a used gun for $850.

I am hoping that they have a demo model at Bill's gun show 1st weekend of April.

I'm with Westhope on the full length resizing. I fought with reloads in mine and was actually sorting which rounds I could use in my EMP and which rounds had to be used in my other 9mm guns. I bought a set of LEE reloading dies which has completely eliminated any issues I was having. It is a very accurate gun. I don't carry mine as I have others that are enough smaller that I don't need to carry it. I'm sure it could be concealed easy enough.

Something I forgot to mention. The concept of the EMP using the shorter 9 mm, 40 SW and 45 GAP cartridge was to reduce the frontstrap to backstrap dimention of the grip due to the rounds being shorter than a 45 ACP or 38 Super. This reduced dimension is very noticeable in the grip of the EMP. For smaller hands it really feels nice.

Again, if they would have used only the 9 mm (or even 9 mm and 40 SW) they could have reduced the width of the slide and the whole gun to make it really a nicer gun.

My wife purchased an EMP as her primary carry. On the rare chance she lets me shoot it I really love the little thing. We have run only factory ammo throught it, mostly WWB, and it has run 100%.

It is very, very accurate. It is scary to think what it could shoot like with some carefully moderated hand loads.

The fit and finish are flawless and carry's nicely.

Overall pricy but it she carries it and can shoot it so it was money well spent.

I'd buy a second one if she would't loan me hers every so often.
