Just got my S&W 642 today :) :) :)

-- I have a holster coming from Bluegrass Holster and I also bought a Blackhawk paddle holster for when I am not wearing a belt etc.

Any advice on this setup???

I also need advice of best rounds

For Practice - I have a few now from Pony Express that should last the summer--

Best rounds for carr/defense??

Where can I find speer gold dot short barrel rounds???

Thanks Again

The Speer short barrel rounds are labled:

38 SPL+P 135 gr. GDHP

part number on box: 23921

There are some similar Speer 125 gr, but those are not the "short barrel" rounds.

The old "FBI" load, 158 gr lead Semi-wadcutters, (available from Remington in standard and +P loads) and Federal 158 gr Hydra Shocks are still the standard that 38 Special rounds are measured against. They are still my choice for my 642/442.

In the Metro, Streichers is probably the best bet to find those. I did find both at Gander Mountain.

Use a lighter load for practice in a 642. All the above have enough recoil that you won't want to shoot more than dozen rounds in that light of a handgun.
