This is the closest forum I could find...

Last night's results moved getting an AR-15 or two a long, long way up my priority list. I can't seem to find anything about Minnesota laws related to owning a nasty, eeeeeeevil "assault weapon". Are there any restrictions above and beyond those imposed by federal law (if any)?

You need a permit to purchase or a permit to carry to buy one. Then fill out the 4473, pass your NICS check, and walk out the door.

You'll enjoy owning an EBR!

Unlike the harmless 12-gauge shotgun, you need a pistol permit to purchase (or permit to carry) to buy an eeeevil baby-killing "semiautomatic
military-style assault weapon."

Other than that, no difference.

See 624.7131 and 624.7132.

Oh, and I see Macphisto beat me by a minute. Nice to see someone named "Mac" win something.

Buy PMags, lots of them, and Jay if you don't have a progressive press get one. Don't forget to get a spare parts such as the trigger group, and bolt/carrier group. (always good to have spares when the new .gov bans the sale of parts)

Unless the shotgun has a "pistol grip" which instantly transforms it into a killing machine, capable of more hip-fire-ability.

Howard Orenstein's doing.

I'm so glad we (and NRA) beat him in the judicial election.

Since I've got a carry permit, that takes care of that.

Well, I guess I'll find out. I've got an SA-85M (Bulgarian semiauto AK clone) that hasn't had 50 rounds through it; I'm not much with a rifle. I'll probably have to get optics on this one. (EBR?)

Of course, you will probably paint it in Tron colors.

Nope. That wouldn't scare the leftists as much.

Personally, I like the version in the first picture on Crazy Einar's 10 Manliest Firearms, even though I wouldn't own it myself...there's just something about a cute pink AR-15 that gives antis the screaming heebie-jeebies.

Ah yes, another Oleg photo!

You can also add this upper if you want; it's a lot of fun and very noisy!

Go for it Jay. You won't regret it. The only problem I've encountered with mine is I can't seem to feed it enough. It's always hungry. :D

Where do you take yours to shoot around here?

Nice looking, that...is it long enough to be legal, though? (Probably a dumb question, but I have to ask.)
