Hi there. This is the first posting on the Twin Cities Carry Forum, an online forum focused on legal, practical, and political issues around self-defense in Minnesota.

I think this forum is a very good idea. The CCRN Yahoo group isn't always appropriate for some conversations and Joel's blog is my primary source of information, anyway (okay, I read Mitch Berg's blog as well).

Hope it works out that way. My own take -- and I know that there's overlap -- is that the features portion of the website (when DDB gets it back up) is for longish essays; the livejournal is for shortish essays by me and commentary on them; and the idea of this forum is for commentary, not necessarily triggered by one of my idle or even not-so-idle thoughts.

I read Mitch's blog, too. But, for whatever reason, I seem to have become the main clearinghouse for information on the issues, if only out of self-interest. (One particularly strange bit of self-interest: I've been getting a lot of calls from NRA Instructors over the present flap, and it's handy to be able to say that almost everything I know is on the livejournal, and pointing to it.)

joel,
I just wanted to thank you for all you've done for those of us outside the metro area. The news and info that you provided on your site was the only news that I could usually get. Particularly during the dark days last winter.
A site like this has been needed for a long time, and you're just the guy to do it. good luck, gunflint
