First, I need to let you all know that I'm not the Reloading Guru, but I am posting this to let you know about a certain individual that should be commended for his outstanding support and effort in providing an incredible amount of knowledge to a person that has NEVER, EVER reloaded a shell in his life until now.
Recently, I received a Dillion 550 press from my father (who lives in CO). It was still in the box (purchased in 1997) along with a Dillion beam scale, RBCS trimmer, and RBCS dies for 45 cal, 9 mm, and 357. He never used it once. Not knowing what the hell to do with this, I decided to search the internet for info. The Dillon web site was fine but lacked IMMEDIATE support. I then turned to Bill's Gun Shop web site and found some person named "ABS". What kind of name is that? Anyway, we chatted about reloading and he said he'd be more than happy to help me through everything. I was then directed to this web site.
"ABS" turned out to be this forums PINNACLE. Pinnacle spent 2 hours on the phone with me (on a Saturday Morning) walking me through the set up and "tweeking" of my Dillon 550 press and my new found hobby of reloading. After several other phone conversations asking for advice, I can happily say that I have shot my first 300 rounds of reloaded 45 cal acp. I must admit, the first couple rounds scared the shit out of me, but after that it was all gravy.
I know that everyone has an opion on every subject in this forum, but I am STATING A FACT. PINNACLE is an asset, wealth of knowledge, and a mentor, in my book to this forum.
PINNACLE - Thank you and I look forward to meeting you in person some day.

Wow
I am just glad that I could assist you....
Like I have stated before - Reloading is a great hobby and the only way to keep it going is to involve more people.
I am glad that everything worked out...
The Real Guru is John Walton at gunstop.... (We call him the Oracle....)
Good luck with the 550 - we will meet someday.....

No thanks...
But you can call me Mr. Asshole.... (in lieu of just plain asshole...) if you must...
Hey we all have something to offer - everyone has a skill that would benefit the group - keeping things to yourself is nto a constructive way of teaching...
We all have a lot to offer and most importantly - to learn.

I'm going to buy a Dillon 550 pretty soon (for handgun, and later rifle caliber reloading). Might as well jump into this forum and say hi.

Hey - There are times that I really wish that I had a 550 and manual indexing.
550 is a great machine for the $$$$$ Likely the best buy on the reloading market.

Pinnacle has been great answering questions, I think I have come up with enough cell phone battery power to have a whole conversation with him again. Mowing his yard hardly seems like work. Thanks Andy =)

Welcome aboard DOC - I'm new to this whole reloading gig as well but I must say, this is definately the site to be if you need help. I'm not sure what I started with this first post of mine but I was just trying to give credit were credit is due.
First off - There is not a better press out there than a FREE Dillon 550 press. Reguardless how old it is -
I'm just stoked to be part of this whole reloading gig that I've been buying 100 rounds of Winchester Brass (at a premium price) at Sportsmans Warehouse just to keep reloading. I'll soon buy in 1000 round bulk. Like tomorrow - LOL Most of these guys in here have 100 rounds done in like 10 minutes. Me, I take my time right now and do it right, watching every step I take. Learning the functions of the machine and watching for any major or minor mishaps that might happen.
But for now - I just reload for me. Thats all I need.
