this sounds interesting, especially with the added NRA first timers class. i have a brother in law and a nephew who would greatly benefit from this type of class and gathering.

question: what is this feast ? what is expected and what would be appropriate for one to bring? for how many? at what time? i ask because i have not attended one of these fun shoots.[/u]

i shall be attending with my brother in law and nephew. they are new to shooting and will be attending paul horvick's NRA First Steps class. we would still like to know about the "feast" so we can adequately prepare and participate.
i shall probably bring most of what i have listed below for myself and others to shoot.

FarmerJ would need to say for sure on the muchies, but I believe it is very informal. If you planned on being there for a bit, bring drinks for yourself and munchies for yourself. I don't think for this event we will have any formal dinner meeting etc.

Of course, if you brought an extra donut, well....I can assist :)

Spent the weekend at Camp Grafton in Devils Lake for the ND National Guard State Combat Service Championship.

Our team from the 191 MP Co in Fargo took second place. We are now qualified for the regionals in Wyoming in September and the Nationals in Arkansas in October.

As to munchies, plan on like PHorvick suggested. Kind of like an old fashioned Pot luck dinner.

I plan to attend, I have a few toys to try.

How long is the range? Enough to have a long range shoot?

One more drive out to the Cokato / Hutch area this month won't hurt but any more and I'm going to have to think about moving closer. I'll be there this weekend.

I'm more than happy to help out with new shooters as well if needed and will bring a handful of firearms as well.

I'm hoping to make it. That said, I think I missed the message that had the address in it -- given that the only direction I'm really good on is "downrange," I'm relying on my GPS as much as possible; anybody got a street address for it?

Rainbow Sportsman's Club.

Take Hwy 12 to Cokato MN.

At the stop light. (it's the only one in Cokato) go north on Cnty Road 3.

Take this north about 4 miles unti you see the sign for Rainbow Sportsmans Club.

Turn right onto 20th St and head east to Oliver St.

Turn left and head north over the hill.

The entrance will be on the right as you come down the hill.

The range can go out to 300 yards, but will pretty much shut down everything else.

From 200 yards, we can still shoot at one of the pistol ranges.

From the 100, you can pretty much have the rest of the range open.

I will be teaching a permit to carry class on Saturday starting around 9 AM.

Other than that, feel free to come out and check it out.

Logistics for the 15th....

As I understand it, FarmerJ is taking the $10 range fee from folks when they arrive and will turn them all in for us at the end of the day. So, just come-on-down...find Jon and he will give you the busman's tour and the fun begins... :)

I've got to find or build a new crate for all the guns I'm bringing, otherwise I'll have to buy more long gun cases.

On the upside though, I can just toss all my hand gnus on the front seat and be legal, one of the other great reasons to have a PTC.

1500 Oliver Ave SW
Cokato, MN 55321

-- or if I wanna be a geek like HammAR: 45.13014345239192, -94.17364597320557. Roughly.

Either one works in Google Maps, BTW.
